1. Due to a recent incident at the FAQ I’ve turned off anon commenting at this community. From here forward you must have a DW account (or be using OpenID) in order to comment here. (Basically, if you’re going to come here and make personal attacks, you’ll need to put your name to it.) I'm sorry that one individual has ruined things for the rest of the anon commenters, who have normally been nothing but considerate, and I apologize for any inconvenience this causes anyone else.
2. I’m making an addition to the FAQ and I’m hoping to get your help on the wording. Back story: I was asked if I’d allow an author to decline certain types of art. My original answer was a straight ‘no’, for various reasons, but upon further discussion, I’ve realized that there might be instances when a person could not enjoy certain types of art. For example, a person who has a hearing impairment receiving a fanmix.
As a generally able-bodied person myself, I wanted input so the language I use isn’t insulting or improper, which is why I’m asking for your input. Here is a draft of the additional language:
May an author decline certain types of art?
Generally speaking, no. Because this is a multi-fandom/small fandom challenge we have enough of a struggle to make sure we have enough artists to claim all the fic without allowing authors to decline certain types of art ‘just because’. That said, I will allow an exception for certain cases with good reason, such a person who has a hearing impairment declining to receive a fanmix. There will be no requirement that you must explain to me why you need to decline a certain type of fanwork, but if I discover that anyone has misused this allowance, they will be banned from participating in any future rounds.
(Also, please let me know if you think there should be any other changes. I'd rather find out now that it's too vague, or whatever, than when it becomes an issue later on. *g*)
Thank you all for your assistance and understanding.
