Authors, this is your rough draft submission post!

Don’t freak out, though, your rough drafts aren’t due today. I’m putting up the submission rules early so that people who have their fic finished, or were having computer or internet issues, could submit their rough draft early if they so wished. (And, to be fair, not getting all of the submissions in one day would also benefit me, as well. *g*)

The rough draft submission date is next Friday, January 31, so you still have a week to get your fic to the “required” 8,000 words/80% completed place if you haven’t already. (And yes, I used quotation marks because I’m flexible about that so long as you will A) have your fic finished by the final draft deadline of March 31 and B) have something substantial to send to your artist after claims – claims open on February 7 and the matching reveal will be made on February 14.)

All about submitting your rough draft... )

Coming up:

The Artist Claiming Post(s) will go up on Friday, February 7. Artists will claim a story from the summaries, which will be posted anonymously. (The Sneak Peak post will go up at least 24 hours prior to the Claiming Post, though I’m shooting for 48 hours to give all the artists time to review the summaries.) The Matching Reveal post will go up on Friday, February 14. At that time I will send out e-mails to the author/artist partners with contact information.

It will be up to the author to provide the story to your artist, as well as any other assistance (ie, screencaps) that your artist might need. It is imperative, especially with a multi-fandom challenge such as this one, that you communicate with your artist.

NOTE: Artist sign-ups will remain open until the claiming period has closed (or until all fic have been claimed), so if you’re aware of an artist (remember, we also accept fanmixes, podcasts, vids, etc as fanart) who might be interested in this challenge, please point them to the Artist Sign-Up Post. Thank you!

If you have any questions, you may comment here with them, or contact me at sfbbmod@gmail.com. Comments will be screened.

The time to submit your rough draft is now over.

I have cleaned out my in-box (and checked my spam folder) and replied to everyone whose rough draft submission (or request to Opt Out Of Art) I received. If you submitted a rough draft (or request to Opt Out Of Art) and have not heard from me, please let me know (after checking your spam folder to make sure my reply wasn’t sent there by mistake).

Additional Notes:

1. The Sneak Peak post for artists will be posted at least 24 (and hopefully 48) hours prior to claiming opening up.

2. The Artist Claiming post will go up at approximately 7am EST on Saturday, February 7.

3. Artist sign-ups will remain open until all fic have been claimed. If you know of someone who’d like to sign-up as an artist, please direct them to the Artist Sign-Up Post.

4. If you have not joined the community, please do so now, as both the Sneak Peak and Artist Claiming posts will be locked to the comm.

Authors, rough drafts are due today! Remember that your rough draft need not be 100% complete, but should be a minimum of 8,000 words/80% completed. I need the summaries for the claims list I'm putting together so there are no extensions granted.

(If you have an issue with the minimum word count or anything else, please contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com to see if we can work something out. I want as many people to continue participating as possible, so I am flexible on this if you are absolutely certain that you will have your final draft completed by the due date and that you will have something substantial to submit to your artist. Your other option is to continue participating, but choosing to opt out of art.)

If you haven't done so already, head on over to the Rough Draft Submission Rules post for instructions on how to turn in your rough draft.

If you will not be submitting a rough draft (or choosing to opt out of art), please contact me to let me know that you are withdrawing from this round of Small Fandoms Bang. You may comment here (comments will be screened) or send an e-mail to the mod account at sfbbmod @ gmail.com.

Additional Notes:

1. The Artist Claiming Post will go up one week from today on Saturday, February 7. Artists will claim a story from the summaries, which will be posted anonymously. The Matching Reveal post will go up on Saturday, February 14. At that time I will forward the author’s LJ User Name and e-mail to the artist.

Authors will be responsible for sending their story to their artist as soon as possible. In the past there have been issues with lack of communication between authors and artists. Please don’t be that person who leaves your author/artist hanging.

2. Artist sign-ups will remain open until all fic have been claimed. If you know of someone who’d like to sign-up as an artist, please direct them to the Artist Sign-Up Post.

3. If you have not already done so, please join this community! This is for both Artists and Authors. Authors & Artists will need to be able to post their Master Posts to the community, and the Artist Claim Post will be locked to members only.

Based on the e-mails I have received so far, there are two things I feel need to be emphasized with respect to filling out the summary form.

1a. The rating/category line item requires you to include both a rating AND a category. The rating is, well, the rating, G, PG-13, etc. The category is where you label the story as gen, het, slash, femslash, threesomes, etc.

For example, that portion of the header should look like this: PG-13/Het

1b. If you include a pairing in the character/pairing line, then please Do Not list your story as Gen (ie, PG-13/Gen). You can write a G-rated story that is still slash because it contains a romantic pairing. (You can label your story however you like when you end up posting it to your journal or to AO3, but for purposes of this community, pairing =/= Gen.)

2. Please DO include a paragraph or two when filling out the summary section. As I mentioned in the Rough Draft Submission post, this is not the same summary you will use when you post your story, but a summary that should entice an artist to chose your story for which to create art. Instead of being coy, include details! And please, don’t just include a one-line summary.

Thank you!

Two issues I've noticed with submissions so far are:

1. The subject line. Please remember to include the requested subject line.

2. The Rating/Category: section of the header. This is for the rating (PG13, R, etc) and the category (gen, het or slash) and Must Be Filled In. It should look like PG13/Gen, for example.

Authors, this is your rough draft submission post!

Don’t freak out, though, your rough drafts aren’t due today. I’m putting up the submission rules early so that people who have their fic finished, or were having computer issues, could submit their rough draft early if they so wished. (And, to be fair, not getting all of the submissions in one day would also benefit me. *g*)

The rough draft submission date is next Friday, January 31, so you still have a week to get your fic to the “required” 8,000 words/80% completed place if you haven’t already.

The time to submit your rough draft is now over.

The Sneak Peak post for artists will be posted 24-48 hours prior to claiming opening up so artists have a chance to check out the bounty.

If you have not joined the community, please do so now, as both the Sneak Peak and Claiming posts will be locked to the comm.

If you did not submit a rough draft and would still like to do so, please contact me at the mod account, sfbbmod @ gmail.com, and we’ll discuss it.

Thank you!

Authors, rough drafts are due today!

Remember that your rough draft need not be 100% complete, but should be a minimum of 8,000 words/80% completed.

Please read the submission rules in the Rough Draft Submission Rules Post and follow the instructions there to submit your rough draft.

If you will not be submitting a rough draft, please contact us to let us know that you are withdrawing from this round of Small Fandoms Bang. You may comment here (comments will be screened) or send an e-mail to the mod account at sfbbmod @ gmail.com.

Additional Notes:

1. Artist sign-ups will be open until all fic have been claimed. If you know of someone who’d like to sign-up as an artist, please direct them to the Artist Sign-Up Post.

2. If you have not already done so, please join this community! This is for both Artists and Authors. Authors & Artists will need to be able to post their Master Posts to the community, and the Artist Claim Post(s) will be locked.

Thank you!
