The sign-up period will remain open from today, Tuesday, April 1 through Friday, April 4. Posting begins on Saturday, April 5 and I’d like to have everyone signed up for a posting day before then.

Further Clarification:

1. To keep things streamlined and organized only Authors may sign up for a posting date. Authors should consult with their Artist(s) to make sure everyone is available for that date.

1a. If an Author has dropped out, the Artist will be allowed to sign up on their own behalf.
1b. If the Author is not available to sign-up, the Artist or some other proxy may sign up.

2. Authors/Artists must have submitted a final draft in order to claim a posting date. (If you have not yet submitted your final draft but you still plan to participate please contact me immediately at sfbbmod @ gmail dot com.)

3. If you wrote more than one story for this challenge, please submit a separate form for each story. You may submit them in the same comment.

4. Please make three choices for your posting date. We will do our best to give you your first choice, but just in case we are unable to we’ll need a fallback day.

5. Due to only having 29 stories this round, only one Author/Artist team may sign up for most days, as I’d prefer to have someone posting each day of the month. Three days will necessarily have two Author/Artist teams posting, and those will be given to the first three duplicate requests I receive, after that it will be one per day.

6. If you still have not done so, you must join this community! Only members may post, so if you haven’t joined you won’t be able to post your fic or art announcement.

Don’t fret yet! Final fanfic and fanart draft e-mails aren’t due right this second, but they are due by next Monday, March 31st!

I’m putting this post up early so that people who are finished may submit their final draft e-mail right along. Remember, you’re no longer required to submit a fanwork with the e-mail; we’re working on the honor system here.

Please follow the instructions below to submit your e-mail. (While some fanfic/fanart may not be 100% polished and ready to go, I still need you to send in an e-mail if you plan on posting. You may not claim a posting date if you haven’t submitted an e-mail. If you are dropping out, on the other hand, please let me know ASAP!)

Posting Sign-Up Reminder:

~The sign-up post for posting dates will go up on April 1 and will be open through April 4. Posting will run from April 5 - April 30.

~Authors and Artists should communicate with each other to choose a posting date that works for both of you. Keep in mind that both Authors and Artists are encouraged to make announcement posts to this community. (You’ll be asked to list your top 3 dates just in case your first choice has already been taken.)

~Authors, please remember that you may not sign up for a posting date until I have received your final draft e-mail.

~If you need a later posting date for health related reasons or for some other reason out of your control, please let me know when you send your final draft e-mail. (Unfortunately, your muse deserting you or you going on vacation rather than working on your fic aren’t good enough reasons, sorry. o_O)

Please remember that communication is key in a challenge such as this one. It’s important that you keep in touch with your counterpart. Don't be ~that person.

Other Comments/Reminders:

~My thanks go out to all of our wonderful artists, but especially to those who claimed a second story for which to create art. Your willingness to create art for more than one story, and in fandoms you might be unfamiliar with, is greatly appreciated by this mod!

~Artist Claims and Artists Sign-Ups are now closed.

~Invitations to the support community have been sent out to all the artists who claimed a story (unless you had already received an invitation when you signed up as an author). Please remember that the invite is only good for 30 days, so if you'd like to join the comm and you haven't already accepted your invitation, then please do get right on that!

You will not receive an e-mail notification of the invite unless you have adjusted your DW settings to request one. If you have not yet received an e-mail notification, you should check your My Invites page under the Communities menu to accept the invitation.

Artist Claims Post

Authors, rough drafts are due by tomorrow! Remember that your rough draft need not be 100% complete, but should be a minimum of 8,000 words/80% completed. I need the story descriptions for the claims list I'm putting together so there are no extensions granted.

(That said, I am flexible on how much story you need to have completed at this time if you are absolutely certain that you will have your final draft completed by the due date and that you will have something substantial to submit to your artist. Your other option is to continue participating, but choosing to opt out of art.)

If you haven't done so already, head on over to the Rough Draft Submission Rules post for instructions on how to turn in your rough draft.

If you will not be submitting a rough draft (or choosing to opt out of art), please contact me to let me know that you are withdrawing from this round of Small Fandoms Bang. You may comment here (comments will be screened) or send an e-mail to the mod account at sfbbmod @ gmail.com. (Please remember that there are penalties if you just disappear without letting me know that you need to withdraw, so don’t do that!)

Additional Notes:

1. The Artist Claiming Post will go up one week from today on Friday, February 7. Artists will claim a story from the story descriptions, which will be posted anonymously. (The Sneak Peak post will go up at least 24 hours prior to the Claiming Post, though I’m shooting for 48 hours to give all the artists time to review the summaries.) The Matching Reveal post will go up on Friday, February 14. At that time I will send out contact e-mails to the author and artist.

Authors will be responsible for sending their story to their artist as soon as possible. In the past there have been issues with lack of communication between authors and artists. Please don’t be that person who leaves your author/artist hanging.

2. Artist sign-ups will remain open until all fic have been claimed. If you know of someone who’d like to sign-up as an artist, please direct them to the Artist Sign-Up Post.

3. If you have not already done so, please join this community! This is for both Artists and Authors. Authors & Artists will need to be able to post their Master Posts to the community, and the Sneak Peek Post and Artist Claim Post will be locked to members only.

Announcements & Reminders:

More Artists & Pimps: I want to thank the 14 artists who have signed-up and checked-in and remind all of you that WE COULD USE MORE ARTISTS!! As you can see from the list, we have a large number of potential fic in quite a diverse bunch of fandoms, and not enough artists for all of them, so please, if you haven’t already done so (or even if you have), pimp us out!

I do not belong to communities for all of these fandoms, so your help would be greatly appreciated. If you belong to any fandom-specific communities for the fandoms listed above (and such announcements are allowed by the mod), please make an announcement! Or pimp us in your own journal or Tumblr! And if you know some artists who are up for a challenge, please mention us to them. Artist sign-ups are still open!

Rough Drafts: Also, please remember that rough drafts are due at the end of this month. (The submission rules post will go up on the 24th, but you will have until the 31st to get them in.) There is no extension on this date because I need the information for artist claims. HOWEVER, I am very flexible regarding ‘percent completed’ so long as you will have the final draft done on time and will have a substantial amount of story to submit to an artist, you’re good. Additionally, there is the option to opt-out of art, should you wish to take that route.

When submitting your rough draft:

1. Remember that your story description should be at least one or two paragraphs, not a clever one-liner. This description is for your artist, not [necessarily] the summary you’re going to include in your story header when you post. (Hint: If you don’t think you can come up with a longer summary, think about dividing your story into parts and give a summary of each part.) If you don’t turn in a nicely fleshed out description the first time, I’ll ask you to re-do it, so start thinking about that now.

2. Please be sure to warn about anything that might squick or trigger your artist. This includes things like character death, extreme violence, non-con/rape, heavy angst, dark themes, genderswap, mpreg, BDSM themes, A/B/O, etc. This is not the warning you need to give to your readers; this is a warning for your artist, so please list anything that might trigger or squick them.

This new requirement is not meant to shame the author, but to protect the artist and author both. You won’t put an artist in the position of having to work with a story they won’t enjoy, and run the chance of possibly ending up with art you’re not satisfied with.
