SFBB04: Another Option - Opt Out Of Art

I'm going to try something new this round and see how it goes.

For authors who will not be able to submit a rough draft by the due date, and will therefore not have their stories included in the artist claims post, but who might still want to post their story as part of the Small Fandoms Bang, I'm going to offer you the option of choosing to opt out of having artwork created for your story.

What this means is that you will still be able to claim a posting date and announce your story here at the community, but you will not receive artwork through Small Fandoms Bang.

Authors who choose to Opt Out Of Art must:

1. Send me an e-mail to let me know that you're choosing this option by Jan 31. If I don't hear from you at all, either choosing to Opt Out Of Art or sending in your rough draft, then you will be marked as having dropped out of the challenge completely. You will not be able to choose to Opt Out Of Art after Jan 31.

2. Check-In when required to do so by the schedule.

3. Submit a final draft on the due date. (You will not be able to claim a posting date if I don't receive your final draft.)

(Please note that Authors who choose to Opt Out Of Art will still have the option of arranging for their own artist, but you will not be able to do so through the community, nor will you or your artist be allowed to announce the artwork here in the comm.)

This is actually perfect as I was just coming over to officially drop one of my stories. I do think I'll have the story done in time for posting, but I don't have enough done right now to send to an artist.

So I would like to opt out of art for my The Mummy (movies) story.

Is there an option for choosing to Opt Out of Art while still submitting a rough draft? I will have my rough draft ready by the due date, but I don't mind being last on the list, as it were, for artists.

Not exactly. First, I'm not sure the gesture would assist the lesser known fandoms, and second, it wouldn't be fair to an artist who might want to claim your story to tell them they can't until all the other stories are claimed. So, I guess, whether you submit your rough draft or not, you can either be included in the artist claims post, or not included at all, rather than included, but last on the list, if that makes sense.

I would also like to choose the Opt Out of Art option. My first draft crashed and burned. I'm basically scrapping that idea entirely and starting with something new, but it will take a while to get it done.
