AUTHOR SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED.
GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION
1. Please make sure you join the
smallfandombang community. It will be the Author’s responsibility to watch or track the community to make sure you don’t miss anything.
2. Your fandom must be verified before you sign up. If your fandom wasn’t previously verified last round then you should comment here or at the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at our sister community
smallfandomfest to have it verified. The general rule for this community is that any fandom with less than 2,000 fic qualifies.
(For a list of fandoms that have already been qualified, please check the Qualifying Fandoms Database; for a list of fandoms that have already been disqualified, please check the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at
smallfandomfest.)
3. Stories must be at least 10,000 words long. There is no maximum length.
4. All ratings, pairings (gen, het, slash, threesomes), and genres (from horror to romance) are welcome here.
5. AUs are allowed. Crossovers between small fandoms are allowed. Fusions between small fandoms are allowed.
6. Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized. (For example, if you’re writing Alexander the Great based on the movie Alexander, or Napoleon based on the Temeraire series.)
8. Stories must be complete and new – no WIPs or previously posted work will be accepted.
9. Authors may sign-up to write more than one fic, and/or to co-write a fic. Please read the FAQ before doing so as there are limits to the number of fic you can sign up to write.
10. If you choose to co-write fic, please only sign up once and list both usernames in the form.
11. If you choose to sign-up to write more than one fic, please sign up separately for each fic.
12. Please note that check-ins are mandatory this round.
13. Stories must not be posted anywhere on the web prior to your posting date, in part or in whole. You will be able to share snippets of your story at our support comm,
smallfandomcafe.
14. Authors may also sign-up to do art, but may not claim his/her own fic.
15. Authors, please note that you may be called upon to assist your artist with screencaps, character descriptions, etc. Since this is a multi-fandom, small fandom challenge there is a high probability that Artists will be asked to create artwork for fandoms they are unfamiliar with.
For more information, please read the Rules and FAQ before you sign up.

Date: 9/1/15 07:04 pm (UTC)Hello. Two things:
First. I just wanted to make sure I'm still qualified to sign up before I verify fandoms in the smallfandomfest post. I did send you an email notification that I'll be dropping out months ago but you can always claim you don't remember (I still have the email on record though) :D
And second. The rule #6 (Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized.) which, I know, is self-explanatory, so I understand that Saitou Hajime, who is a real-life historical figure but has been used as a character in the anime/game Hakuouki (and Rurouni Kenshin), can be used in sfbb fics (if that fandom still qualifies as small). But what if I plan to use the same character as someone not from Hakuouki but rather from the stage play Mononofu Shiroki Tora (no existing fics or fandom yet as the play will start running mid-September), which is based on actual historical events, and another character from the same play, Iinuma Sadakichi, will that be allowed? Just curious about this.

Date: 9/1/15 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure there's no fic published online at least for the Aztec West stories and there's like 1,113 DoH fics on FF plus the 57 on A03. There's also other fanfics around the web on other DoG related sites but would it still qualify small fandom wise?
I know it would be safe with using a fictionalized version of a real person department lol.
Thanks!

Date: 9/1/15 09:50 pm (UTC)Would you consider the play to be a fictionalized version of that character? I mean, I allow the movie 'Alexander' for Alexander the Great, so as long as it's not, like, a documentary play or something, I'd say that yes, it would qualify.

Date: 9/2/15 02:49 pm (UTC)I wouldn't be able to tell if it's a documentary play since it hasn't ran yet. Show starts mid-September. But from what I've gathered from cast interviews, it will be in story-format though I'm not sure if it can be categorized as fictional since it is based on actual historic events. How accurate it is though, I don't know. The production may have made up certain scenes to fit the script because there isn't any written details about most of the characters' lives beyond the events during war. If say, some scenes are 'made-up', then that can be an element to consider this fictional, right?
But, if that's going to be too much of a headache to consider, I'll just revisit the fics I wrote for this challenge last round, which I never got to finish and polish (and they do look awful IMO), that is if Uta no Prince-sama still counts as small fandom? I'm sure La Corda d'Oro is.
Oh, I do have another question. I'll initially sign up for one story only. If I deem I may be able to finish the story sooner, may I sign up for another story before sign-ups end?

Date: 9/2/15 05:19 pm (UTC)The movie 'Alexander' is based on actual historical events, but it's still what I would call a fictionalized account. A documentary about Alexander on the History Channel, otoh, would probably not qualify. Or a biography. But the play should be okay.
You can wait to sign up for a second story, but you do have to sign up for it before author sign-ups end. If it turns out that you can't do two, then you just need to tell me that you would like to drop one of them.
