AUTHOR SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED.
GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION
1. Please make sure you join the
smallfandombang community. It will be the Author’s responsibility to watch or track the community to make sure you don’t miss anything.
2. Your fandom must be verified before you sign up. If your fandom wasn’t previously verified last round then you should comment here or at the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at our sister community
smallfandomfest to have it verified. The general rule for this community is that any fandom with less than 2,000 fic qualifies.
(For a list of fandoms that have already been qualified, please check the Qualifying Fandoms Database; for a list of fandoms that have already been disqualified, please check the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at
smallfandomfest.)
3. Stories must be at least 10,000 words long. There is no maximum length.
4. All ratings, pairings (gen, het, slash, threesomes), and genres (from horror to romance) are welcome here.
5. AUs are allowed. Crossovers between small fandoms are allowed. Fusions between small fandoms are allowed.
6. Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized. (For example, if you’re writing Alexander the Great based on the movie Alexander, or Napoleon based on the Temeraire series.)
8. Stories must be complete and new – no WIPs or previously posted work will be accepted.
9. Authors may sign-up to write more than one fic, and/or to co-write a fic. Please read the FAQ before doing so as there are limits to the number of fic you can sign up to write.
10. If you choose to co-write fic, please only sign up once and list both usernames in the form.
11. If you choose to sign-up to write more than one fic, please sign up separately for each fic.
12. Please note that check-ins are mandatory this round.
13. Stories must not be posted anywhere on the web prior to your posting date, in part or in whole. You will be able to share snippets of your story at our support comm,
smallfandomcafe.
14. Authors may also sign-up to do art, but may not claim his/her own fic.
15. Authors, please note that you may be called upon to assist your artist with screencaps, character descriptions, etc. Since this is a multi-fandom, small fandom challenge there is a high probability that Artists will be asked to create artwork for fandoms they are unfamiliar with.
For more information, please read the Rules and FAQ before you sign up.

Date: 9/1/15 07:04 pm (UTC)Hello. Two things:
First. I just wanted to make sure I'm still qualified to sign up before I verify fandoms in the smallfandomfest post. I did send you an email notification that I'll be dropping out months ago but you can always claim you don't remember (I still have the email on record though) :D
And second. The rule #6 (Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized.) which, I know, is self-explanatory, so I understand that Saitou Hajime, who is a real-life historical figure but has been used as a character in the anime/game Hakuouki (and Rurouni Kenshin), can be used in sfbb fics (if that fandom still qualifies as small). But what if I plan to use the same character as someone not from Hakuouki but rather from the stage play Mononofu Shiroki Tora (no existing fics or fandom yet as the play will start running mid-September), which is based on actual historical events, and another character from the same play, Iinuma Sadakichi, will that be allowed? Just curious about this.

Date: 9/1/15 09:50 pm (UTC)Would you consider the play to be a fictionalized version of that character? I mean, I allow the movie 'Alexander' for Alexander the Great, so as long as it's not, like, a documentary play or something, I'd say that yes, it would qualify.

Date: 9/1/15 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure there's no fic published online at least for the Aztec West stories and there's like 1,113 DoH fics on FF plus the 57 on A03. There's also other fanfics around the web on other DoG related sites but would it still qualify small fandom wise?
I know it would be safe with using a fictionalized version of a real person department lol.
Thanks!

Date: 9/6/15 08:33 pm (UTC)1) Would The Wicked + The Divine qualify? (I'm very much guessing yes.)
2) Do I have to have an LJ account or can I use my DW?
(no subject)
Date: 9/7/15 11:39 am (UTC)You can use your DW account, however, I've found in the past that I am unable to issue invitations to and you cannot join the support comm from a DW account. Also, I'm not sure if you can join this comm and set up to track it and see the locked posts.

Date: 9/7/15 01:40 pm (UTC)2. I really only have one fandom I want to write for, but the form makes me list three. Should still I list fandoms I'd also be willing to write for, if less so?
(no subject)
Date: 9/7/15 10:06 pm (UTC)If you only want to list one fandom, you should just put 'n/a' in the other two fandom spots.
(no subject)
Date: 9/7/15 09:37 pm (UTC)As far as I can tell, my own 14 fics on AO3 (some cross-posted to LJ and DA) are the only ones to be found online for Dear Ladies itself and the Hinge & Bracket characters in general.

Date: 9/9/15 07:30 pm (UTC)I have a fandom that is listed as qualifying on Small Fandom Post, but I know it's close. I just wanted to make sure if it's listed as qualifying now then it still works. I'm assuming that if the fandom story number goes up before my posting date I can still post it. But I just wanted to double check. :)
(no subject)
Date: 9/10/15 11:36 am (UTC)Generally speaking, yes, if it's on the list of Qualifying Fandoms, then the fandom would qualify. But since there are over 1,000 fandoms listed, I am unable to re-check them every round. I know that many of them will remain small for a very long time, while others will top out rather quickly. I have marked a few fandoms that I know are getting close so I can keep an eye on them, but that doesn't mean I haven't missed something. I won't be able to tell you for sure until I know what fandom you're talking about.
Once I've accepted your fandom for this round, it won't matter if it suddenly grows in leaps and bounds and has over 2,000 fic, it will still be qualified for this round of the BB.

Date: 10/1/15 11:58 am (UTC)For example, there is potential for about 1000 years worth of flashbacks spread over both shows for quite a few characters (my main character included), would I be able to only draw from the ones featured in TO or as long as the main "present" of my story took place in a canon TO timeline (either present day or 1914, depending on which pairing I run with), would I be able to include character knowledge and references from their history over both shows (for example, them discussing how they became vampires, a flashback that was actually in TVD but would be the same recollection if it ever came up again in TO)?
(no subject)
Date: 10/1/15 08:02 pm (UTC)The normal rule is, if they crossed over, they're fair game. Such as Felicity from Arrow appearing on The Flash, so you could write an Iris/Felicity fic.
In this case, the same rule would apply to new canon (like, I think Katrina crossed over, for example, and so you could write about her in the present day in your The Originals fic), but I'll be more lenient when it comes to background of the characters on The Originals, like how Katrina fits into Klaus' past, that would be okay (even if she hadn't crossed over on the show in the present).
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't.

Date: 10/2/15 07:09 pm (UTC)You don't need to have an AO3 account (though I highly recommend the place! *g*), but you will need somewhere to post your fic. Do you have a DW account or post to ff.net or another archive?
