SFBB09: Author Sign-Up Post
Sep. 1st, 2019 08:22 amGENERAL RULES & INFORMATION
1. Please make sure you join the Small Fandoms Bang community at
smallfandombang. It will be the Author’s responsibility to watch or track the community to make sure you don’t miss anything.
2. Your fandom must be verified before you sign up. If your fandom wasn’t verified during a previous round (and hasn’t since grown too large to qualify), then you should comment here or at the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at our sister community
smallfandomfest to have it verified. The general rule for this community is that any fandom with less than 2,000 fic qualifies.
(For a list of fandoms that have already been qualified, please check the Qualifying Fandoms Database; for a list of fandoms that have already been disqualified, please check the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at
smallfandomfest.)
Don’t forget to check the list for fandoms that have been disqualified since the last round.
3. When you sign up please include up to three fandoms that you are most likely to write in on the sign-up form. If you decide at a later date to write in a fandom that you did not list you must contact us first so that we may verify that it qualifies and update our spreadsheet accordingly.
4. Stories must be at least 10,000 words long. There is no maximum length.
5. All ratings, pairings (gen, het, slash, threesomes), and genres (from horror to romance) are welcome here.
6. AUs are allowed. Crossovers between small fandoms are allowed. Fusions between small fandoms are allowed.
7. Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized. (For example, if you’re writing Alexander the Great based on the movie Alexander, or Napoleon based on the Temeraire series.)
8. Stories must be complete and new – no WIPs or previously posted work will be accepted.
9. Authors may sign-up to write more than one fic, and/or to co-write a fic. Please read the FAQ before doing so as there are limits to the number of fic you may sign up to write.
10. If you choose to co-write fic, please only sign up once and list both usernames in the form.
11. If you choose to sign-up to write more than one fic, please sign up separately for each fic.
12. Please note that check-ins are mandatory.
13. Stories must not be posted anywhere on the web prior to your posting date, in part or in whole. You will be able to share snippets of your story at our support comm,
smallfandomcafe.
14. Authors may also sign-up to do art, but may not claim their own fic.
15. Authors, please note that you may be called upon to assist your artist with screencaps, character descriptions, etc. Since this is a multi-fandom, small fandom challenge there is a high probability that Artists will be asked to create artwork for fandoms they are unfamiliar with, so your assistance will be necessary.
For more information, please read the Rules and FAQ before you sign up.

Date: 9/1/19 02:49 pm (UTC)You filled it out correctly! I'm running the challenge out of the DW comm only, but people can participate from other platforms, like Tumblr or LJ (if they don't have a DW account as well). I need to know that because I can only issue invites to the support comm to people who have DW accounts (AFAIK) and would need to figure out another way to let people from, say, Tumblr join.

Date: 9/1/19 03:52 pm (UTC)There are three fandoms that I would like to verify:
1) 全职高手 Quánzhí Gāoshǒu/The King's Avatar (According to AO3, there are 1923 English works. However, most of them are in fact Chinese fics that have been mistagged)
2) Liar! Uncover the Truth (15 works on AO3)
3) 微微一笑很傾城 | Love O2O (TV) (30 works on AO3)
(no subject)
Date: 9/1/19 05:20 pm (UTC)All three fandoms do currently qualify, even with the larger number in the first one. However, I have only recently started filtering by English language, mainly because I know too many people who have fallen into the Guardian (tv) fandom and there is someone in that fandom who is culling out the English fic and putting them in a spreadsheet. Unless someone does something similar for King's Avatar (book fandom) I won't be able to qualify the fandom past the 2,000 fic that show up when I filter for English in future, if that makes sense.

Date: 9/1/19 05:20 pm (UTC)I'd like to verify two fandoms:
1. Stand Still Stay Silent 1231 works on AO3
2. Watch_Dogs 615 works on AO3

Date: 9/1/19 05:23 pm (UTC)Signed up, but question
Date: 9/2/19 05:21 pm (UTC)One fandom I mentioned in my signup may need verification (it's...got 0 fic on AO3 though, so I'm not especially worried?)
Also, I wanted to ask, how does signing up for 2 fics separately (no co-authoring) work? I'm debating doing 2 along with an artist sign-up, but I've never done that before so I don't know the process.
Re: Signed up, but question
Date: 9/2/19 06:35 pm (UTC)Rules of Magic is listed under the Practical Magic Series and there are 2 fic I think. *g*
To sign up to write two fic you fill out the form twice (and then check in for both fic separately, though in the same comment is fine). Let me know if you need more information about that.

Date: 9/5/19 02:07 am (UTC)Would that still be fine too cause I can see how it may confuse people into thinking the show is too RPF like or something but I don't think it is. There's enough info for it to be considered fictionalized characters where some happen to share the same name as the actor, either just first or both.

Thank you!
