Rating/Category: NC-17

Summary:
The Fox isn't one of the most notorious Masks in Chicago—far from it. He's just one of a hundred different covered faces, clever enough to keep his head down and his heists small enough to avoid media attention. It's kept him safe. It's kept his family safe. The only Hero he's caught the attention of is Seraph, an enigmatic and faceless beacon in white... and the only person who can can keep up with the Fox's tricks.

After almost a decade of cat and mouse, Aiden's getting tired of the Mask game. He's too afraid to come clean to his family or the man he's in love with, and he's too guilty about his ongoing relationship with Seraph to break it off either. When the shit hits the fan, putting his family at risk, he find himself running out of options and forced to rely on the one person he knows could fuck him over in a heartbeat.

Posting begins in just a couple of days, on Sunday, April 5! Yes, it’s finally here! I’m so excited about this, and I hope that you all are, too. I can’t wait to read the fic and enjoy the art!

Now, for the instructions which I’m posting early for those of you who want to get your announcement all prettied up ahead of time:

1. On your posting day, Authors and Artists should post your fanfic/fanart at the journal/archive where you usually post your fanfic/fanart and make an announcement at the Small Fandom Bang community using the header template below that links to either a Master Post in your journal or the fic at an archive such as AO3.

(Yes, we’re doing this a little bit differently than most other big bangs – we want both Authors and Artists to be able to receive the accolades they’re due for their hard work, so both Authors and Artists are encouraged to post an announcement here in the community. We stole this idea from [livejournal.com profile] kink_bigbang.)

1a. Authors and Artists may coordinate their posting times, but it is not required. You may post your announcement any time that is most convenient for you; you do not have to wait to post until you have received the link from your partner, though you will need to edit your announcement post once the link is available to include it.

2. Your fanfic/fanart posts should not be locked. (While we don’t require you to post it here in the community, we would like the fic/art you created for this challenge to be available for everyone to enjoy.) [It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, the announcement post here should not be locked, either.]

3. If you need to break your story up into parts, please make sure each part links to the next to make it easier for your readers to follow.

4. Please only use a thumbnail or resized image of no larger than 350 pixel width in your announcement post so we don’t screw up everyone’s f-list.

5. If you post your fic at AO3 please feel free to add it to the Small Fandoms Bang Round Nine collection. (There’s also a tag you can use: Community: smallfandombang.)

6. If you miss your posting date for any reason please contact me. DO NOT merely post on whatever day you remember or become available as that steals the thunder from the Authors and Artists who have signed up for that day. You may post on any day that has a free spot or during our Amnesty Posting Week, but you MUST contact me first so I know what’s going on.

(If you’ve forgotten your posting date, check out the Posting Schedule at the Posting Date Sign-Up post.)

7. When posting your announcement at the Small Fandom Bang community, please follow the format below:

Fanfic Announcement:

Subject line: Fic: Fandom (Author)

Header template:

Fanart Announcement:

Subject line: Art: Fandom (Artist)

Header template:

You may add information to the header (author notes, beta credit, acknowledgments, disclaimer, etc) but please don't remove any of the items listed or otherwise change the order of the requested information.

8. You may tag your own posts, but no worries if you don’t because I will double check that each post has all the necessary tags and create new tags as needed.

9. Please remember to use the required warnings in the header of your announcement to this comm (major character death, non-con/rape and extreme violence). While you must use warnings in your header at the community, you are free to include or exclude any information where you post your story.

Last reminder: if you haven’t already joined this community, do so now! You must be a member of this community to post.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered in the FAQ you may ask them here (comments will be screened) or e-mail me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com.

Please note that I have replied to all of the final draft submissions that I have received. If you did not receive a reply from me, check your spam folder first and then contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com. And now, onto the sign-up!

The sign-up period will remain open from today, Wednesday, April 1 through Saturday, April 4. Posting begins on Sunday, April 5 and I’d like to have everyone signed up for a posting day before then.

Authors, please sign up for the posting date(s) of your choice by copying and pasting the below form into a comment to this post:

Further Clarification:

1. To keep things streamlined and organized only Authors may sign up for a posting date. Authors should consult with their Artist(s) to make sure everyone is available for that date.

1a. If an Author has dropped out, the Artist will be allowed to sign up on their own behalf.
1b. If the Author is not available to sign-up, the Artist or some other proxy may sign up.

2. Authors must have submitted a final draft in order to claim a posting date. (If you have not yet submitted your final draft but you still plan to participate please contact me immediately at sfbbmod @ gmail.com.)

3. If you wrote more than one story for this challenge, please submit a separate form for each story. You may submit them in the same comment.

4. Please make three choices for your posting date. We will do our best to give you your first choice, but just in case we are unable to we’ll need a fallback day.

5. Due to the lower number of stories this round, only one Author/Artist team may sign up for each day.

6. If you still have not done so, you must join this community! Only members may post, so if you haven’t joined you won’t be able to post your fic or art announcement.

If you need to withdraw from this challenge, please let me know ASAP! Thank you.

If you have any questions you may comment here with them or contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com.

Don’t fret yet! Final fanfic and fanart drafts aren’t due right this second, but they are due by next Tuesday, March 31st!

I’m putting this post up early so that people who are finished may submit their final drafts right along. Please follow the instructions below to submit your final drafts. (I do realize that some fanfic/fanart may not be 100% polished and ready to go, but I still need you to send in your final draft if you plan on posting. You may not claim a posting date if you haven’t turned in a final draft, so turn ~something in, even if it’s not actually your finished product. If you are dropping out, on the other hand, please let me know ASAP!)

How To Submit Your Final Draft )

Posting Sign-Up Reminder:

~The sign-up post for posting dates will go up on April 1 and will be open through April 4. Posting will run from April 5 - April 30.

~Authors and Artists should communicate with each other to choose a posting date that works for both of you. Keep in mind that both Authors and Artists are encouraged to make announcement posts to this community. (Since we only have 18 stories this round, each date may only be claimed once; you’ll be asked to list your top 3 dates just in case your first choice has already been taken.)

~Authors, please remember that you may not sign up for a posting date until I have received your final draft.

~If you need a later posting date for health related reasons or for some other reason out of your control, please let me know when you turn in your final draft. (Unfortunately, your muse deserting you or you going on vacation rather than working on your fic aren’t good enough reasons, sorry. o_O)

If you have any questions, you may comment here with them, or contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail .com. Comments will be screened.

Today’s the last day of the check-in period for Author Check-In no. 4 and Artist Check-In no. 2. Please remember that these check-ins are mandatory and that there are now penalties for disappearing without a word, so if you need to drop out please contact me, do not just skip checking-in. (If you have opted-out-of-art, you still need to complete this check-in.)

So, if you haven’t yet checked-in, please head on over to the check-in posts and do so now:

~The final check-in posts for both authors and artists will go up next Sunday, March 8th.

~Final drafts are due by Tuesday, March 31st. Remember that you must have turned in your final draft before you can claim a posting date! (As with the rough draft, there is some flexibility here. Unless you've chosen an early posting date, you'll still have time to polish your fic/art up.)

(Those of you who chose to opt-out-of-art must still check-in and turn in your final draft.)

~Remember to talk to your counterpart about what posting date works best for you both!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
sfbbmod: (small fandom bang moderator)
[personal profile] sfbbmod
All contact e-mails introducing you to your Author/Artist have now been sent out!

~If you have not received an e-mail from the mod account, please first check your spam folder and then contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com to make sure I have the correct e-mail address you’d like me to use. (Please also include your user name in the e-mail unless it is obvious from your e-mail name/addy.)

~I would also like to remind everyone to please respond in a timely manner to contact e-mails sent from your Author/Artist. If you haven't yet heard from your counterpart, please don't hesitate to initiate contact yourself. (Also, please check your spam folder to make sure you don't have an unanswered e-mail sitting in there.) If you encounter any issues, please let me know asap so that I can address them immediately.

Please remember that communication is key in a challenge such as this one. It’s important that you keep in touch with your counterpart. Don't be ~that person.

Other Comments/Reminders:

~My thanks go out to all of our wonderful artists, but especially to those who claimed a second (or third) story for which to create art. Your willingness to create art for more than one story, and in fandoms you might be unfamiliar with, is greatly appreciated by this mod!

~Artist Claims and Artists Sign-Ups are now closed. [Given that our wonderful artists needed to claim multiple stories in order that all stories receive art, there will be no option to claim a story twice this round.]

~Invitations to the support community have been sent out to all the artists who claimed a story (unless you had already received an invitation when you signed up as an author or if you are solely on LJ - in which case, contact me if you want to join the support comm so we can work something out). Please remember that the invite is only good for 30 days, so if you'd like to join the comm and you haven't already accepted your invitation, then please do get right on that!

[I also re-sent invites to those of you who signed up as beta/cheerleaders because I went a little wild deleting support comm members who are no longer participating by solely using my author sign-up spreadsheet. I apologize for that!]

You will not receive an e-mail notification of the invite unless you have adjusted your DW settings to request one. If you have not yet received an e-mail notification, you should check your My Invites page under the Communities menu to accept the invitation.

~Saturday Snippet posts will now be open to Artists, as well as Authors.

~The Beta/Cheerleader post at the support community may be used by Artists, as well as Authors.

~Our next Hump Day! Post will be an Artist Meet & Greet! Artists and Authors are encouraged to drop by to visit.

~Our next and final check-in for Authors and Artists will be on March 8, and Final Drafts of both fic and art are due on March 31, so mark your calendars!

Thank you!

Artist Claiming Post

Thank you!
sfbbmod: (small fandom bang moderator)
[personal profile] sfbbmod
Authors, rough drafts are due today! Remember that your rough draft need not be 100% complete, but should be a minimum of 8,000 words/80% completed. I need the story descriptions for the claims list I'm putting together so there are no extensions granted.

(That said, I am flexible on how much story you have to submit if you are absolutely certain that you will have your final draft completed by the due date and that you will have something substantial to submit to your artist. Your other option is to continue participating, but choosing to opt out of art.)

If you haven't done so already, head on over to the Rough Draft Submission Rules post for instructions on how to turn in your rough draft.

If you will not be submitting a rough draft (or choosing to opt out of art), please contact me to let me know that you are withdrawing from this round of Small Fandoms Bang. You may comment here (comments will be screened) or send an e-mail to the mod account at sfbbmod @ gmail.com. (Please remember that there are penalties if you just disappear without letting me know that you need to withdraw, so don’t do that!)

Additional Notes:

1. The Artist Claiming Post will go up one week from today on Friday, February 7. Artists will claim a story from the story descriptions, which will be posted anonymously. (The Sneak Peak post will go up at least 24 hours prior to the Claiming Post, though I’m shooting for 48 hours to give all the artists time to review the summaries.) The Matching Reveal post will go up on Friday, February 14. At that time I will send out contact e-mails to the author and artist.

Authors will be responsible for sending their story to their artist as soon as possible. In the past there have been issues with lack of communication between authors and artists. Please don’t be that person who leaves your author/artist hanging.

2. Artist sign-ups will remain open until all fic have been claimed. If you know of someone who’d like to sign-up as an artist, please direct them to the Artist Sign-Up Post.

3. If you have not already done so, please join this community! This is for both Artists and Authors. Authors & Artists will need to be able to post their Master Posts to the community, and the Sneak Peek Post and Artist Claim Post will be locked to members only.

Thank you!

(I’m so sorry that I’m ~way behind with posting this. January has brought some RL challenges that have kept me very busy.)

The Author Check-In period is now over and we currently have 29 stories in 30 fandoms! Here’s our preliminary list of fandoms for artists who might be interested in signing up, but are leery of doing so without knowing what fandoms are being represented.

Preliminary List of Fandoms: )

Announcements & Reminders:

More Artists & Pimps: I want to thank the 10 artists who have signed-up and checked-in and remind all of you that WE COULD USE MORE ARTISTS!! As you can see from the list, we have a large number of potential fic in quite a diverse bunch of fandoms, and not enough artists for all of them, so please, if you haven’t already done so (or even if you have), pimp us out!

I do not belong to communities for all of these fandoms, so your help would be greatly appreciated. If you belong to any fandom-specific communities for the fandoms listed above (and such announcements are allowed by the mod), please make an announcement! Or pimp us in your own journal or Tumblr! And if you know some artists who are up for a challenge, please mention us to them. Artist sign-ups are still open!

If you are interested in signing up as an Artist, please do so at the a href=https://smallfandombang.dreamwidth.org/232268.html>Artist Sign-Up Post.

Rough Drafts: Removed because we’ve already reached the ‘rough draft submission’ stage. *head desk*

Thank you!
sfbbmod: (small fandom bang moderator)
[personal profile] sfbbmod
Authors, this is your rough draft submission post!

Don’t freak out, though, your rough drafts aren’t due today. I’m putting up the submission rules early so that people who have their fic finished, or were having computer or internet issues, could submit their rough draft early if they so wished. (And, to be fair, not getting all of the submissions in one day would also benefit me, as well. *g*)

The rough draft submission date is next Friday, January 31, so you still have a week to get your fic to the “required” 8,000 words/80% completed place if you haven’t already. (And yes, I used quotation marks because I’m flexible about that so long as you will A) have your fic finished by the final draft deadline and B) have something substantial to send to your artist after claims – claims open on February 7 and the matching reveal will be made on February 14.)

All about submitting your rough draft... )

Coming up:

The Artist Claiming Post(s) will go up on Friday, February 7. Artists will claim a story from the summaries, which will be posted anonymously. (The Sneak Peak post will go up at least 24 hours prior to the Claiming Post, though I’m shooting for 48 hours to give all the artists time to review the summaries.) The Matching Reveal post will go up on Friday, February 14. At that time I will send out e-mails to the author/artist partners with contact information.

I will not be sending the rough draft you submit to your artist. I realize that you may have done further writing and editing, and may want to speak with your artist about the story before they begin work, so it will be up to the author to provide the story to-date to your artist, as well as any other assistance (ie, screencaps) that your artist might need. It is imperative, especially with a multi-fandom challenge such as this one, that you communicate with your artist.

NOTE: Artist sign-ups will remain open until the claiming period has closed (or until all fic have been claimed), so if you’re aware of an artist (remember, we also accept fanmixes, podcasts, vids, etc as fanart) who might be interested in this challenge, please point them to the Artist Sign-Up Post. Thank you!

If you have any questions, you may comment here with them, or contact me at sfbbmod @ gmail.com. Comments will be screened.

[personal profile] sfbbmod
GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION

1. Please make sure you join the Small Fandoms Bang community at [community profile] smallfandombang. It will be the Artist’s responsibility to watch or track the community to make sure you don’t miss anything.

2. Acceptable art includes: A fanmix with at least 8 songs, a series of at least 8 icons, a video, a podfic, a single piece of two-dimensional art such as a cover or banner (manip, drawing, etc), or title and chapter banners. [At least one piece of art is required; if the artist would like to produce additional work that is absolutely acceptable.]

3. Artists may co-create art. If you choose to co-create art, please only sign up once and list both user names in the sign-up.

4. Artists may have also signed up to write fic, but may not claim their own fic for which to produce art.

5. Please note that check-ins are mandatory.

6. Artists will have the opportunity to claim additional fic if there are any unclaimed fic after the first round of claiming.

7. Artwork must not be posted anywhere on the web prior to your posting date.

8. Since this is a multi-fandom, small fandom challenge there is a high probability that Artists will be asked to create artwork for fandoms they are unfamiliar with. Authors are aware that they may be called upon to assist their Artist with screencaps, character descriptions, etc.

For more information, please read the Rules and FAQ before you sign up.

GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION

1. Please make sure you join the Small Fandoms Bang community at [community profile] smallfandombang. It will be the Author’s responsibility to watch or track the community to make sure you don’t miss anything.

2. Your fandom must be verified before you sign up. If your fandom wasn’t verified during a previous round (and hasn’t since grown too large to qualify), then you should comment here or at the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at our sister community [community profile] smallfandomfest to have it verified. The general rule for this community is that any fandom with less than 2,000 fic qualifies.

(For a list of fandoms that have already been qualified, please check the Qualifying Fandoms Database; for a list of fandoms that have already been disqualified, please check the What Qualifies as a Small Fandom post at [community profile] smallfandomfest.)

Don’t forget to check the list for fandoms that have been disqualified since the last round.

3. When you sign up please include up to three fandoms that you are most likely to write in on the sign-up form. If you decide at a later date to write in a fandom that you did not list you must contact us first so that we may verify that it qualifies and update our spreadsheet accordingly.

4. Stories must be at least 10,000 words long. There is no maximum length.

5. All ratings, pairings (gen, het, slash, threesomes), and genres (from horror to romance) are welcome here.

6. AUs are allowed. Crossovers between small fandoms are allowed. Fusions between small fandoms are allowed.

7. Stories must be fictional person fiction only; this challenge does not include real person fiction unless the real person has been fictionalized. (For example, if you’re writing Alexander the Great based on the movie Alexander, or Napoleon based on the Temeraire series.)

8. Stories must be complete and new – no WIPs or previously posted work will be accepted.

9. Authors may sign-up to write more than one fic, and/or to co-write a fic. Please read the FAQ before doing so as there are limits to the number of fic you may sign up to write.

10. If you choose to co-write fic, please only sign up once and list both usernames in the form.

11. If you choose to sign-up to write more than one fic, please sign up separately for each fic.

12. Please note that check-ins are mandatory.

13. Stories must not be posted anywhere on the web prior to your posting date, in part or in whole. You will be able to share snippets of your story at our support comm, [community profile] smallfandomcafe.

14. Authors may also sign-up to do art, but may not claim their own fic.

15. Authors, please note that you may be called upon to assist your artist with screencaps, character descriptions, etc. Since this is a multi-fandom, small fandom challenge there is a high probability that Artists will be asked to create artwork for fandoms they are unfamiliar with, so your assistance will be necessary.

For more information, please read the Rules and FAQ before you sign up.

Hello, everyone! I can't believe that we're nearing September 1st already (just over two weeks away!) and that we'll be starting our NINTH round of Small Fandoms Bang! I wanted to let everyone know for sure that we're a go this year, and reiterate the most important dates for the next couple of months:

Sept 1: Author Sign-Ups Open
Nov 1: Artist Sign-Ups Open (And First Author Check-In)

Move to DW: To make things easier for the mods we will be moving the SFBB to our DW community exclusively when this next round opens. This does not mean that you can only participate if you have a DW account. We currently encourage people to participate from many different platforms using OpenID and that will continue.

To be clear: If you don't have a DW account you may comment to the sign-up post(s), check-in posts, etc and also post your fic/art announcements to the community with OpenID. So whether you participate from LJ or Tumblr or someplace else, you are still welcome and able to play in this small fandom sandbox, and I sincerely and wholeheartedly hope that you will continue to do so.

If you have any comments about the last round, or questions/suggestions for the coming round, please feel free to leave them in a reply to this post. (Comments will be screened.)

If you'd like to pimp us out before we go live, just c&p the text from the textbox to share this banner:
